So I started the day with some unexpected shenanigans. Had to wake up a lil earlier to watch/help with a barefoot running economy study at 7:30. I only like 3 miles away, and have pushed it to leaving 10 minutes before I’m to be there. But I had my bike outside at 7:00 this morning, to notice a squishy, flat rear bike tire. I havent had a flat on this bike since I got it a year ago! So I aired it up, and then checked it again, and it was only at 20psi. Time to run my ass off! So I texted Sarah, the lab tech helping do the study, that I was running late, literally! She thought it was pretty funny at least. So I cut through the “wash basin” as they call it. its a bunch of … deserty junk, where water runs through, I dunno, every great plague? but supposedly it saves me a mile or so. But then I get onto campus, and everything is under construction with barricades everywhere, rerouting me to god knows where. Did I mention I had no idea where the fuck I was going? But eventually got there, somehow at 7:45. Have no idea how I pulled that off.
But I got to watch them do VO2max and ecg’s on this chick running on a treadmill with and without shoes on. They have SUCH A BETTER LAB THAN US! holy crap! and I forgot to take a picture of her on the treadmill with the mask on, damnit! Then I helped a prof proofread a study… which I would probably take too long on, and then have to do more work on later.
But probably the highlight of my day, was after that. We had a lady come in for a resting metabolic rate, who had more weight loss than I’ve ever seen with my own eyes! She weighed in at 218? I think today. But takes a bunch of laminated photos of her surgery’s and her working out and such, of her since 2003, when she weighed in at over 400 pounds! and she’s probably shorter than 5 foot, and she had a bmi of 78? HOLY EFFIN COW! but she’s fairly healthy now, uses an electric wheelchair to get around, just like her husband, who doesn’t look extremely overweight either. It was just awesome to see how happy she was. She’s probably in her 60’s, and she hugged everybody coming in, including me when I met her, haha. She’s had gastric bypass/duodenal blah blah surgery years ago, but shes scheduled soon to get a bunch of skin removed from her inner thighs. She had pictures of her underarm skin and fat removal as well, graphic ones! Loved it!
Then I attempted to help Dr. Haddock with his references with the study from before, but it was getting close to lunch, my add was at its high point with food, and he left for the day. So I just kinda bs’ed it and said I couldnt find all of the references, which I couldnt, that giant folder was a fuckin mess!
Then I walked a few miles, got some lunch, walked to walmart to get a bike patch kit, then back home. I think I ran a total of 2 miles, then walked at least 4-5. My hamstrings are shot today.
To you wall-e fans, their bodpod is named Eva, haha! Still havent got to see it in use though.
